Thank you very much for taking me to Paradia and Goriagari. It was so interesting to see the SMCS and SHG programs at work. I was interested to see the materials used during distributions, and also to see the contributions made by the women. When we met with the SHG, I was happy to see so many women speaking freely and positively about the program, and especially to hear from the mother who has not lost a child since she began participating. We are very pleased to learn of your excellent program in Safe Motherhood and Child Survival. You have an excellent MIS system, and we feel the use of the VHW is a very effective way to deliver success. The program we want to introduce is aimed at improving health and survival of newborns, since more than 40% of deaths in children under age 5 die in the first month of life. Our program will deal with improved newborn practices in the home, through health education delivered through VHWs. We feel a partnership in which we help with improving care of the newborn could help to form a complete Safe Motherhood and Child Survival Program that will make a great impact in the community. We would be very interested in further discussing the possibility of a partnership with you.
